Joe's taking steps into his desired career, thanks to an apprenticeship with Swatpro and BEMA!

Joe Cox knew that a Level 3 Apprenticeship as a Fitter Engineer was the route to his desired career as a fully qualified service engineer.

Joe, who works at drink packaging experts Graphic Packaging International, says he’s a “practical person” who’d “hate a dull 9-to-5 office job” but has always been drawn to engineering after seeing the career his grandfather had as an engineer.

“I feel a Level 3 apprenticeship gives you time as an individual to mature whilst you undergo training, and also gives you a monitored, phased welcome into the working world. By the time you have finished the 4-year term, you will feel confident that you can carry out your job to a good standard whilst also knowing that you have developed personally too,” he says.

“My personal experience also is that the benefits of an apprenticeship often mean that you have more options after completion – to move on to a degree level if the company allows, whilst still earning potentially more than most people would be at your age, especially in this field,” he adds.
