Our experienced staff can offer a wide range of support that is designed to remove the day to day problems facing your comany. Support can be proivded in such areas as:

The support offered by BEMA is as many and varied as the companies that make up our membership. Some of our members make use only of our apprenticeship schemes, whilst others require assistance with everything from Health and Safety requirements to running their payroll. Highlighted here are a few of the more popular services available to BEMA members.

Helpline Advice on most employment issues is available over the telephone.  

Portable Appliance Testing

We offer Portable Appliance Testing.  It is required by law that appliances be tested at regular intervals depending on the appliance and the environment they are in. You will receive a report detailing appliances tested and results. All appliances tested are marked to ensure that they are easy to recognise.

Health & Safety Audit

To help you comply with the requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act, BEMA will undertake a Health and Safety Audit to ascertain the elements of health and safety that are not being undertaken by your company at the present time or that require updating.

The Audit covers:

Risk Assessment  
Fire Safety
First Aid
Work Equipment

You will be provided with a full report of any outstanding items to be corrected and the best way to go about this. BEMA is on hand to give advice and support for all aspects of Health and Safety. You are under no obligation to use any of our services after the Audit has been completed.

Fire Risk Assessment 

BEMA is able to offer a complete Risk and Fire Risk Assessment service to its membership. This includes a complete physical check of the members premises and equipment followed by the construction of a report and recommendations. In the case of of a full Fire Risk assessment a completed floor plan is drafted. Arrangements are then made to conduct an annual visit as part of the five step approach to Risk Assessment.

Health & Safety Policy

Under the Health and Safety at Work Act, if you have five or more employees, you must have a written policy.
Describing how you will manage health and safety in your business and it will also let your staff and others know about your commitment to health and safety.  It should clearly say who does what, when and how.  A policy will only be effective if you and your staff follow it and review it regularly.

COSHH
With your assistance we will compile a COSHH Register and help to obtain the necessary Material Safety Data Sheets. With this information we will be able to conduct a full COSHH Risk Assessment for you.

Noise, Light and Temperature Readings
Noise, Light and Temperature readings can be taken in all areas of the workplace.  By undertaking this assessment it can be
identified if ear defenders are required. As records will be kept it will help to eliminate industrial deafness and tinnitus claims in future years.
