Machining Apprentice - Level 3

Overview of Role

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work

As an Apprentice Machinist you will learn to manufacture prototype parts including:

  • The setting, running and programming of CNC Turning and Milling Centres.
  • Reading and understanding of technical drawings.
  • Job planning, showing initiative and being part of a team.
  • Safe and competent operation of manual machines and hand tools.
  • Inspection of components using the latest equipment.
Working Week: Monday - Thursday, 08.30 - 17.15. Friday, 08.30- 12.30. 37 hours a week hours a week.

Duration: 4 Years

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

After this apprenticeship

On successful completion of the Engineering Apprenticeship the Apprentice moves on to become a 'Junior Manufacturing Engineer' with the opportunity to become a fully skilled machinist.

Things to consider - for Burgess Hill vacancy

During term time in the first year the apprentice will spend all their time studying at college near Bristol returning to the workplace during holidays. In the second year the apprentice will spend 1 day a week remote learning and the rest of the week in the workplace at Burgess Hill.

The role is based in Burgess Hill. The training for the first year is based in Bristol. Accommodation and travel paid by Edwards.
